Paddy Torsney: A Strong Voice for Canada
In the twelve years Paddy represented Burlington in Ottawa,
the Liberal government worked with Canadians to transform the
economy.
Canada enjoyed:
- The best job creation performance in the G7
- Eight consecutive budget surpluses - a Canadian record
- The lowest unemployment rate in 30 years
Since 2006 the Conservative government took the surpluses
the Liberals left and turned it into a deficit. Conservatives
are big spenders. Since taking office, Stephen Harper's
Conservatives have raised federal spending by $33 billion.
Liberals believe the federal government has a role to play,
working with businesses and labour to build a strong, 21st
century economy. An economy based on knowledge, ingenuity, and
innovation. An economy that is economically and
environmentally sustainable, spearheading new green
technologies.
That's why a Liberal government will:
- Invest $1 billion in the Advanced Manufacturing
Prosperity (AMP) Fund to promote a greener, more competitive
manufacturing sector
- Cut personal and business taxes by up to 10% under the
Liberal Green Shift plan, so that a family with an income of
$74,000 and 2 children will receive nearly $1,400 in income
tax cuts and credits
- Reduce poverty, invest in a green economy - and restore
fiscal discipline to government
Liberal times are prosperous times.
